Basic Yoga Exercises and the Benefits

Yoga is a great way to relax and achieve many benefits for your body.

Yoga is a great exercise activity that is beneficial for your health. There are a few basic yoga exercises that you can do to maintain a positive health. Learn the basic yoga poses that are right for you.

Shava Asana: This is one of the easiest and most relaxing yoga poses. Simply lay on your back with your palms on the floor and your legs straight in front of you resting on the floor. Relax your feet and toes allowing your left foot to point towards the left and your right foot to point towards the right. Close your eyes and take a deep breath in and slowly let it out. Relax your mind and allow your entire body to become relaxed. This is a beneficial pose that will help lower your blood pressure and improve your respiratory system.

Padma Asana: The padma asana is the most common yoga pose. Simply sit on the carpet cross legged and lift both of your feet on your legs. Place your hands softly on your legs and relax your body. Close your eyes and take a deep breath in and let it out. Be sure to keep your back straight as you should maintain great posture. This yoga pose is said to help the digestive system as it may relieve any constipation.

Pawanmukta Asana: This is a yoga pose that will help any problems you may have in the digestive system and is especially great for people with excessive gas. Start by laying on your back and grabbing your knees with your hands and continuing to lay on your back. Take a deep breath in and let it out through your nose. Point your toes up to the ceiling and continue to take 10 deep breaths. This yoga exercise will also help you strengthen your abdominal muscles.

Trikonasana: You can start this yoga pose by standing on the carpet with your legs spaced about a foot apart. Keep your back straight and your arms down. Take a deep breath in and raise your right arm straight up. Hold the position for several seconds and lower your arm as you exhale. Repeat this pose by doing the same with your left arm. This is a great pose for people who suffer from back aches.

Participating in yoga is a great way to exercise your body and mind. Continue to practice yoga daily with different poses and exercises. Start with easy methods and work your way up to the more difficult ones.
